A new dawn is coming for the Italian national team as multiple reports indicate that Roberto Mancini is set to be officially named as the next Azzurri manager.
It is understood that the former Manchester City boss had emerged as the frontrunner after Carlo Ancelotti allegedly turned the job down.
According to the Corriere della Sera newspaper, Mancini has successfully negotiated an exit strategy with Zenit that will see the contract terminated by mutual consent on Monday.
He currently earns €6m per year at the Russian club and the contract runs to June 2020.
It’s believed Mancio will then sign on as the new Italy Coach by Wednesday.
He should be given a two-year deal worth €2m per year, with a bonus to be activated with qualification for Euro 2020.
