ARSENAL are being mocked on Twitter with hundreds of empty seats visible in their Europa League opener.

The Gunners are taking on Ukrainian minnows Vorksla to begin their group campaign.

And it seems some fans decided against heading to the Emirates for the European night.

Unfortunately, those who did make the trip were rewarded with a dull opening 30 minutes as Vorksla sat back.

Unai Emery’s were to blame for failing to muster significant pressure or quality around the visitors’ area until Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang struck in the 32nd minute.

Summer signing Lucas Torreira picked up a knock early on in a blow for the Gunners.

The Uruguayan playmaker – starting his first game for the club – limped back onto the field but may be withdrawn.

Bernd Leno is making his Gunners debut between the sticks and will be expecting a quiet night.

Arsenal came into the break 1-0 ahead and their boss will have demanded more after the restart.

The Europa League winners qualify for the Champions League – a useful route with the Premier League’s star-studded top six competing for just four places.
